A versatile workshop & storage depot to take advantage of underutilised site space
NOV Hydra Rig, a leading manufacturer of coiled tubing, nitrogen, and snubbing equipment, required a flexible solution to provide covered workspace and storage. To enhance employee safety and protect specialist equipment, they opted for a Spaciotempo temporary workshop, testing building, and two storage canopies.
Through expert consultation and site visits from Spaciotempo’s South-East Sales Manager, Harry, the project was tailored to meet their exact requirements. The result was a fully functional facility that improved efficiency while offering long-term adaptability.
Requirements
NOV Hydra Rig required a temporary workshop and testing facility to provide essential shelter for staff working on specialist equipment, ensuring a safer and more efficient working environment. Alongside this, they needed two temporary canopies to protect their valuable machinery from exposure to adverse weather conditions.
Given the nature of their heavy-duty equipment, a bespoke access solution was essential, leading to the installation of a custom 4.8m x 6.3m electric roller shutter door to allow seamless transportation in and out of the facility. Flexibility was also a key consideration, with hire terms structured to allow for an initial 12-month rental period, with the option to extend or purchase outright based on evolving operational needs.
The solution
The installation was carefully planned to fit within an already operational yard, ensuring minimal disruption. Temporary buildings offer the flexibility to adapt to existing site constraints, making them ideal for industrial environments with non-standard layouts.

Customised for Specialist Equipment
To accommodate NOV Hydra Rig’s unique machinery, the main workshop and testing facility featured a bespoke 4.8m x 6.3m electric roller shutter door, positioned just 20cm from the top of the walling. This allowed seamless transport of oversized equipment in and out of the facility.

Flexible Hire & Future Expansion
NOV Hydra Rig opted for an initial 12-month hire, with the option to extend or purchase based on long-term needs. The success of the project has already led to discussions about additional temporary buildings for equipment storage and refurbishment at their Beacan Park facility.
