Individuals should possess excellent time management skills, an eye for detail and the ability to think on the spot to resolve operational issues as they occur. They must also be able to multi-task and preferably have some previous experience within the construction field.

We’re looking for an experienced Lead Hand to work with our Operations Director

The position of Leading Hand will form part of an operational team with the responsibility, on behalf of the Company, for ensuring all allocated projects are carried out in a professional, safe and compliant manner in strict accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Key responsibilities

  • Comply with all instructions and direction issued by the project Site Managers and Site Supervisor at all times. 

  • Work at height from scaffolding, ladders and mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs -Scissor Lifts/Cherry Pickers) to gain safe access to sections above ground level. 

  • Lift, guide and align building components into position before securing in place by bolting or riveting.

  • Ensure all company equipment is kept in good working order and care is taken to ensure equipment is not damaged unnecessarily. 

  • Maintain an up-to-date awareness of health and safety practices. 

  • Continually develop professional competence and achieve all objectives set through formal appraisal. 

  • Perform other duties as requested by the Operations Director and Operations Delivery Manager.

Required skills

  • Confident, professional and flexible with excellent attention to detail. 
  • A high level of practical working skills and the ability to communicate coherently. 
  • Ability to handle high levels of pressure. 
  • Good level of fitness. 
  • Valid Driving Licence. 
  • CSCS card and IPAF (Category 3A and 3B) card.

Desirable qualifications & training

  • IT Literate. 
  • First Aid Certificate. 
  • PASMA. 
  • Slinger/ Signaller. 
  • Forklift Certificate of Training.
